It was truly the toughest test... assemble the best rugby players from all four corners of Britain and Ireland and transport them to the other side of the world to take on the mighty All Blacks.
This official book tells the story of the 2005 British & Irish Lions tour. Through more than 300 spectacular photographs and exclusive interviews with the players and management, it captures the essence of the historic tour to the scenic rugby heartlands of New Zealand.
Capturing the joy of victory and the agony of defeat, beyond that The Toughest Test is about the spirit of the Lions and the astonishing atmosphere generated when 30,000 rugby supporters cross the planet in the name of sport.
Only once has a Lions team returned from New Zealand victorious... but never before has a Lions tour had such an impact.
"A fantastic record of an historic Lions tour – the massive highs and terrible lows on the pitch, and the incredible atmosphere off it!"
Brian O'Driscoll
"This book sums up perfectly what a Lions tour is all about. We may have lost the Test series, but no player or supporter will ever forget the experience."
Gareth Thomas
"The stunning photography in this book superbly captures the agony and the ecstasy of this Lions tour, and the fantastic New Zealand scenery that provided its' backdrop."
Gordon Bulloch
"I love all the pictures of the fans, their crazy outfits and their smiling faces, even though we couldn't give them the victory they deserved. This is for them."

THE EAST TERRACE
October 2005
The official book of the, admittedly disastrous, British & Irish Lions 2005 tour has arrived. Published by Vision Sports Publishing Ltd, responsible for the excellent 'Breathing Fire' book earlier in the year, The Toughest Test is the tale of Woodward's failed Lions experiment through over 300 photographs and exclusive player comments and interviews. A fine-looking book, it is certainly one of the better results of the nightmare tour. The Toughest Test will certainly make a nice coffee table addition for those fans that travelled to New Zealand and wished to have something pleasant to remember the event by.
